Master Mathematics

This activity includes 40 problems to practice the parts of an algebraic expression. This activity is set up in a quiz, quiz, trade format but it could also be used for a partner activity or for flash cards. Students will identify the terms, like terms, coefficients and constants for each expression. This KAGAN cooperative learning strategy is a student favorite. This assignment includes 6 sales tax problems. I ask the students to meet with a different partner each time. Each one has a different mistake that I notice students will make. Students are asked to explain the mistake and then fix the error. On the last page, I ask students to create their own sales tax problem and then have a different partner solve their problem. Then, the students check their answer together.

This lesson is designed to coincide with the Glencoe Course 2 Seventh Grade Mathematics Curriculum. This lesson includes slides for explaining solving proportions, identifying proportions and help with vocabulary. There are also problems for the Senteo clickers included.

This Smart Notebook Lesson is designed to coincide with Lesson 1-5 of the Glencoe Course 2 7th Grade Mathematics Series. I have also included a few slides to show the students the difference between proportional and nonproportional relationships in a table and a graph. Students will then be able to compare the table with the graph and look for connections and differences.
