I love using gallery walks as a way to introduce a topic and get students out of their seats and moving! All you have to do is hang the stations along the wall in your classroom. In a gallery walk, students walk to each of the 10 stations and write down notes as they go. In this gallery walk, students will make inferences about the connections between an inequality statement and its graph on the number line. They will first make observations on their own and then have a discussion with classmat
Adding and subtracting integers is one of the most challenging, but fundamental topics students learn during 7th grade math. As I have spent more time teaching this standard, I noticed that students did not have a firm grasp of number lines and that was contributing to misconceptions and errors when adding and subtracting negative numbers. Teaching style
It is always my goal to get students out of their seats during the class period. I love to allow my students to discover new concepts and then follow up the investigation with a mini-lesson. I am a teacher at an EL Learning school and I am always looking for real world applications of math to apply to our units of study.
