Students will write linear equations in slope intercept form from brief contextual situations. They will also examine the relationship between positive and negative rates and initial values as they pertain to real world contexts.

This bundle contains 4 activities:
1. Constructions and Transformations-- Using a compass and straight edge, perform rigid transformations and show how properties of figures relate to symmetry and congruence. Great practice assignment.
2. More Transformation Construction-- Students perform rigid transformations with a compass and straight edge and justify the results with properties of polygons, symmetry and transformations.
3. Transformations and Construction: Partner Practice--

This is a quiz over absolute value that uses transformations of functions and addresses questions about domain and range of absolute value functions. The quiz includes simple graphs from transformations as well as graphs using tables.
There are three versions of the quiz to protect academic integrity or to offer re-quiz versions; no answer keys are provided.

Students will have the chance to practice using lines of reflection in quadrilaterals in the coordinate plane and answer concept questions about using rotational symmetry and lines of symmetry to verify statements about quadrilaterals.
There can be several approaches to solving these problems and many correct responses to the concept questions; therefore, an answer key is not provided.
This could be used as a practice assignment for quadrilaterals and symmetry in polygons.

This bundle contains three products:
1. Using Properties of Logs Check Point
- A brief checkpoint to uses properties of logs to condense and expand log functions. The short assessment also requires students to evaluate logs for important features, i.e. x-intercepts, asymptotes, other domain values.
2. Use Exponential Models and Solve a Contextual Problem with Logarithms
- This assignment is a contextual problem solving activity using logs and exponential functions to model radioactive decay a
This is a quadratic gravity modeling assignment where height is a function of time. Each context requires students to use graphing calculators to approximate maximum heights, starting heights, flight times, and other points of interest. Students will write quadratic models from different starting values including changing the lead coefficient (gravity acceleration coefficient) as the problems move from one planet to another, changing initial heights and initial velocities.
The goal of the ass
Students draw a triangle in the coordinate plane. They copy their triangle via SAS or ASA constructions and verify their copy’s validity with transformations and SSS coordinate proof. Students also use corresponding parts of congruent triangle to show that the triangles have congruent corresponding angles. Students are then asked to relate CPCTC to what they know about translations and parallel lines.

This is a practice activity where students use a compass and straight edge to construct various regular polygons as well as inscribed/circumscribed figures. The assignment also contains quadrilateral constructions that can be achieved by extending knowledge of regular polygon construction. This allows students to explore multiple and novel methods for producing desired figures. This is best done after exploring various square and triangle construction methods.

Students will use an exponential model for a contextual situation involving radioactive half-life. Each version uses a half-life model; N(t) = No 2^(-t/t1/2) where No is the initial amount, t is the time of decay and t1/2 is the half life of the isotope. There is also an additional question that uses the calculus derived, model in the form
N(t) =No e-rt, where r is the decay constant (r is usually represented with the Greek letter lambda).

This product contains a three separate versions of a full-page exponential graph quiz. You could use the different versions to protect academic integrity (minimize cheating) or to offer multiple re-takes. Students are asked to graph two exponential functions and then write a simple exponential model.

This is a partner practice assignment requiring students to rotate, reflect and translate polygons to meet a specific set of criteria. The assignment requires a pair of students to collaborate on a solution to a problem. One student performs the indicated construction. The other student explains the construction and justifies its validity. Partners change roles for each question. The pre-established roles are great encouraging communication and result in more complete explanations and unde
Students apply the rational zeros theorem, fundamental theorem of algebra and remainder theorem to find zeros for polynomial functions. The first question can also be factored in quadratic form. This requires students to show the relationship between using synthetic evaluation and factoring when possible. The second questions differ by quiz in order to maintain academic integrity.

This assignment builds on the skills of writing linear equations that share the same variables and using knowledge of linear equations to find a common solution to a system of linear equations.
This is a great introduction and lead in to learning about linear systems that increases student confidence.
This could be completed individually or with a partner.

Students use corresponding parts of congruent triangles to verify the validity of several constructions and statements about quadrilaterals including: Angle Copy, Angle Bisector, Segment Bisector and statements about diagonals in a parallelogram. The assignment can be done as guided practice, homework or with partners.

Students use a compass and straight edge to perform rigid transformations outside of the coordinate plane. Questions require students to have experience with simple constructions including: angle copy, triangle construction by any method, various angle measure constructions, perpendicular and angle bisectors. Some questions use concepts from polygon symmetry and quadrilateral properties. The questions are intended to encourage practice with the transformation methods as well as connect concep
Students define a simple parent function of the same base and use basic transformations to graph a log function. Students also define vertical asymptotes as well as x-intercepts and show how asymptotes and undefined domain values relate to the log function.
Students also find an inverse to the given log function and verify its validity by composing it with the original log function and by showing that the domain and range have actually switched. This assessment/assignment is great for reinfor
Students use a set of given log functions and operations to condense the log functions into a single function. Then students evaluate their functions for a given set of criteria. This assignment requires that students have prior experience with function evaluation, notation and operations. (It is a great opportunity to revisit these important concepts and skills in a new context.)
The second part of the assessment has students expand logs using various expansion rules. The expansions also c
Students will write quadratic models from contextual situations involving coefficients in both metric and standard units. Students use the models to graph and answer questions that require them to work out zeroes and vertices of the functions, and apply graphing technology when appropriate.

This product contains a "complete the square" warm-up (that could be used as a quiz or check point). Students follow a guided, five step process to solve the quadratic equation using this strategy and work space is provided.
It is a single sheet of paper that can be chopped in half to save on copies. Plus, your formative data will be reliable because there are two different versions (top and bottom) to protect academic integrity.

This is a small group activity (best with 3 students) that requires students to write two functions that fit a given set of operation criteria. Students then perform the operation to verify that validity of their responses. The work is divided into three parts per question. Partner one writes a function, partner two writes a function and partner three performs the indicated operation. The division of work requires heavy collaboration and planning on the part of the group to ensure that the
