In this activity students will be creating four different functions in which they will find their derivatives, determine all critical points, extrema, intervals of increase and decrease and intervals of concavity. Students will also be asked to find a graph of the original function. The activity can be downloaded as a Word document or a Google Slide (see alternate listing) and can easily be used as an online activity, or, can be printed, collected and used as a classroom matching game using all

This activity is a great way for students to review the first and second derivative tests and describe key features of a function. Students will work in pairs (recommended) to take a function and use the first and second derivative tests to find intervals of increase and decrease as well as intervals of concavity. Students will be given the following: - 10 function cards (A-J) - 10 first derivative test conclusions (colors) - 10 second derivative test conclusions (food) Students will find a grou
This walkaround activity sorts indefinite integration problems from Mild (easy), Medium and Spicy (difficult). The skills and content required for this assignment include: Power Rule Trigonometric Inverse Trigonometric Natural Log Exponential (e) Chain Rule There are 16 questions total with an answer key attached. The file is also uploaded as a Word document for easy editing if you wish to modify the questions. It is a great review for students prior to learning more challenging chain rule prob
This activity is designed to allow students to practice their derivatives with questions that are tiered from mild (easy) to spicy (difficult) and requiring the most steps, while walking around the room and having some independence to choose the problems they wish to do. You can design the activity to be fully completed, or have the students choose a certain number of mild medium and spicy questions they need to complete. The derivatives include the following rules: Power, product, quotient, ch
This is a version of Mad Gabs with rules and theorems to review for Calculus. It works great for AP Calculus and the students love the different type of style review it offers rather than just doing notes and problems.
There are 20 pre-made GABS with rules and theorems and a few extra spaces for you and your students to create your own. If printed and then photocopied front to back you can cut them out so the answers are on the back, or you can keep them separate so the answers aren't showing.
There are 8 Non-Calculator Multiple Choice questions and one Free Response in this general review set covering topics such as tangent lines, slope fields, integration techniques, interpretation of graphs, limits and more.
There is an answer key provided for both the MC and FR.
Students will solve basic anti-derivative problems in order to solve a riddle. Their answers will match to a letter which then can be put into the correct place revealing the answer once all 16 problems are completed.

Teaching style
Discovery Based Learning is what my teaching preference is. Allowing students to take responsibility for their learning and guiding them through the process helps make the content "stick" better than presenting it through lecturing. They also enjoy the various activities and differentiation the DBAs allow.
