About the store
I started out teaching alternative special education to 6th graders in 1997. In 1998, I wanted to teach science because it is my passion and moved to an alternative high school where I taught all sciences from grades 9-12 to people ages 16-22. When funding was no longer available and our school was shut down 6 years later, I moved to a junior high school in the area. Many of my former students said their hate for school started there and I wanted to be able to help them along instead of seeing them drop out...that was 8 years ago. I still work with at-risk students trying to help them value and desire an education and imparting them with knowledge that will help them become life long learners.
I have training in many different areas and serve as a new teacher mentor, state assessor, and still to this day take classes to help me better my professional life.

Skeletal System Powerpoint
This power point is used with 7th graders as notes for the major points of the skeletal system. 25 point Science Journal Rubric
The file is a 25 point Science journal scoring rubric. I developed this year so i can assess just the science component of my journals. My students do not get to write short items in their ELA classes, only essays it seems, so in collaboration with the ELA block teachers on my TEAM, we have devised a way to make my journals cross curricular allowing them to assess the ELA component. Reciprocal Teaching Activity for Notes
This is a short reciprocal teaching activity I use when my students have a few sections of notes. I use it because it aids in increasing their reading comprehension and reading for a purpose. Our school has low test scores on those two areas, so I figure that I can work on my content and have them complete this while I do. The title of the Notes will need to be changed however to meet your need!
It can really be used in any subject area at any grade and is a great short activity for partners!

Biogeochemical Cycles Review Crossword Puzzle
This is a basic review of the terms and concepts associated with biogeochemical cycles. I am using this with my Environmental Science students in to aid them in preparing for their test. I put it on google classroom and they print and complete for an additional study resource. I also give a couple of points for them completing it correctly since this is from self motivation. Biomes Test
This is a test I gave last year to my 9th grade integrated science classes. It is not read only and can be altered or adapted in any way necessary. I integrated the district test information, stuff from online, and stuff I made up for this test.
I like to take many different tests and use what fits for my students based on where they are and what we have covered, so you can cut and paste or copy as needed allowing you to step it up or down with grade levels.

The Digestive System Powerpoint
This is the power point I use with my 7th graders on the digestive system. I have an anticipation guide I use before the lesson, and a project I have them do as well. This project is listed as a free item, so feel free to download it as well if you would like to use them together.

ELA Journal Rubric (25 point journals)
This is a rubric I created for my TEAM to use when assessing ELA journals. The Social Studies and Science teachers pass on their journals to the ELA teachers to assess student writing samples. This team effort is really effective is having the kids pay more attention to their writing at all times and in all content areas. It is designed to be a quick check for a short jounral, not an essay!

Limiting Factors and Carrying Capacity Interactive Notebook
This product is an interactive notebook that I made for my Environmental Science students that are in grades 9-12 and all ability levels. I created the actual notebook contents using a free template taken from slidesgo which allows it to be used with credit given on the last slide. Environmental Science test 1 - Industrial and Agricultural Revolutions
This is a short test I used when I taught the first unit of environmental science when we discussed what env science is as well as the agricultural and industrial revolutions.

Pollution Lab Activity
This is a lab I used when I first started teaching. I used it show how the things we do add pollution to the environment even if we don't notice it. I also used it to introduce concepts such as what is now called a green lifestyle and how accumulation of small amounts can add up to cause a larger problem than a large pollution emission can in some cases.
It is editable so you can change what you need and tailor it to your students in your classroom.

This is the power point that I give my students for background knowledge on the microscope.
I made this entire power point based on what they need to know about using and caring for the microscope.
I find it is really easy for my students, most of which are inclusion students, to understand. It is very straight forward without a lot of fluff for them.

Atmosphere and Climate Change Vocabulary Puzzle
I created this puzzle to aid my students in studying the main points we discussed in class the lecture. I used it as an elected homework assignment. This means I put it on google classroom and they can choose to or not to complete this assignment. If they successfully complete it, they get 5 bonus points. Safety Rule Journal
I use this journal in class to get my student's perspective on which safety rules seem to stick out more than others. When I have them share in a think-pair-share group, some really good discussions seem to begin. When we discuss what we learned, things are pointed out sometimes that I did not even realize they caught on to.

DNA Creation (Lab using Jellybeans)
This was used when I first taught 7th grade as a little lab for students who needed a hands on experience to see the look of the DNA strand.
I haven't really looked at it since then - maybe 10-12 years now. I know that they enjoyed this activity (except having to write a paper with it).
I have it at a low price because it is so old and I have not revisited it in many years.
Like all things, it is editable and you can change and adapt it to the classroom you have.

Teaching style
I like my classroom to be a safe place where students can succeed and express themselves as they take home positive learning experiences. I am not a dictator in my class. I like to facilitate and let the children learn by doing.

My own education history
I received my BS in education from Nicholls State University in 1997. I have a concentration in Biology with my minor being General Science. I have since taken many many graduate classes for "fun" as well as to increase acheivement with my students.
Additional biographical information
I am finally going back to complete my masters degree. I have enough hours to have my plus 30 plus some, but nothing that goes together for a degree. I apparently just like going to school!
