About the store
I started out teaching alternative special education to 6th graders in 1997. In 1998, I wanted to teach science because it is my passion and moved to an alternative high school where I taught all sciences from grades 9-12 to people ages 16-22. When funding was no longer available and our school was shut down 6 years later, I moved to a junior high school in the area. Many of my former students said their hate for school started there and I wanted to be able to help them along instead of seeing them drop out...that was 8 years ago. I still work with at-risk students trying to help them value and desire an education and imparting them with knowledge that will help them become life long learners.
I have training in many different areas and serve as a new teacher mentor, state assessor, and still to this day take classes to help me better my professional life.

25 point Science Journal Rubric
The file is a 25 point Science journal scoring rubric. I developed this year so i can assess just the science component of my journals. My students do not get to write short items in their ELA classes, only essays it seems, so in collaboration with the ELA block teachers on my TEAM, we have devised a way to make my journals cross curricular allowing them to assess the ELA component. Reptile Essay Guidelines - Middle School
When I taught middle school, my students were required to complete a portfolio on reptiles. One required component of this portfolio was an essay. This is the essay guidelines and what was required along with websites to allow them to look for the info. Students went to the library at least monthly for content area research so I made sure they had something meaningful to do that would increase their knowledge of the content at hand.

Nonrenewable and Renewable Resources test
In PLCs, we have been working on test construction. This examview file contains the test that I gave this year. I have included the part A/B question types, mulitple response questions, and TE questions. I put this together and spent time searching for diagrams and pictures to make this test work in my classroom. If you have ever searched for good quality and rigorous material that aligns to standards that are adopted by your state for the NGSS, you know it takes time and patience! I am charging

20 Frog coloring pictures for projects
Included in this file is a set of 20 frog color pages that are made to be cut out. This would be great for use during an amphibian lesson, a spring bulletin board, a thematic unit, etc Each frog is different and could be fun to do in class with little ones.

Weekly Folder Report Paper
Several years back, I taught at a school where we had to send folders home and have a guardian's signature. I made this to make it easier for us to send what we needed to home. In a Jr. High we had never had to do this before, so I made what I thought would help me and my teammates best!

This document contains 6 sheets of color pages that are really great for students due to the positive affirmations that they get when they color it. These could be great for students to have to reinforce their great work or even just for something fun to do or for little reward parties.

Retest Grade Calculation Sheet
I have quite a few students who have asked to retake tests. Water Resources Vocabulary Crossword Puzzle
I created this puzzle to aid my students in studying the main points we discussed in class the lecture. I used it as an elected homework assignment. This means I put it on google classroom and they can choose to or not to complete this assignment. If they successfully complete it, they get 5 bonus points. Bacteria Challenge Worksheet
This is a worksheet I made that would address the vocabulary of the words the students were learning with bacteria. This is basic and middle school oriented - made when I first started teaching middle school.

Teaching style
I like my classroom to be a safe place where students can succeed and express themselves as they take home positive learning experiences. I am not a dictator in my class. I like to facilitate and let the children learn by doing.

My own education history
I received my BS in education from Nicholls State University in 1997. I have a concentration in Biology with my minor being General Science. I have since taken many many graduate classes for "fun" as well as to increase acheivement with my students.
Additional biographical information
I am finally going back to complete my masters degree. I have enough hours to have my plus 30 plus some, but nothing that goes together for a degree. I apparently just like going to school!
