About the store
I started out teaching alternative special education to 6th graders in 1997. In 1998, I wanted to teach science because it is my passion and moved to an alternative high school where I taught all sciences from grades 9-12 to people ages 16-22. When funding was no longer available and our school was shut down 6 years later, I moved to a junior high school in the area. Many of my former students said their hate for school started there and I wanted to be able to help them along instead of seeing them drop out...that was 8 years ago. I still work with at-risk students trying to help them value and desire an education and imparting them with knowledge that will help them become life long learners. I have training in many different areas and serve as a new teacher mentor, state assessor, and still to this day take classes to help me better my professional life. I have also been trained through the following programs: LASIP - 3 years LAgearup ABC Connections - 2 years Math Tips Intech - 2 years La State Assessor Trained LA State Mentor Trained

Parent Communication Log Sheet

I looked at numerous types of parent log sheets. I took the ideas of the ones I saw and put them in a format that was best suited for me. This works for my high school classes. I have never used it in the elementary schools, but I'm sure it could work there too. All of my materials are able to be edited. I HAVE A CUTE APPLE BORDER AROUND IT, BUT YOU CANT SEE IT WITH THE THUMBNAIL. IF IT DOES NOT SHOW UP AND YOU PURCHASE IT, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND I WILL EMAIL YOU ANOTHER COPY THAT WAS NOT ALT

When I was teaching 7th grade, we had to create a conduct chart that would work for us. Along with a friend, we felt this was the most conducive to our environment - one that targeted the areas that needed work in our classes. It can easily be adapted or changed to what your needs are as far as categories. You can copy and paste the names in and it is ready to go. I now teach high school and though they are not concerned as much with conduct as they used to be, I always have something tangible

Several years back, I taught at a school where we had to send folders home and have a guardian's signature. I made this to make it easier for us to send what we needed to home. In a Jr. High we had never had to do this before, so I made what I thought would help me and my teammates best! It is in Word so it can be easily adapted or changed if needed.

Teaching style

I like my classroom to be a safe place where students can succeed and express themselves as they take home positive learning experiences. I am not a dictator in my class. I like to facilitate and let the children learn by doing.

Awards & shining teacher moments

2007 Teacher of the Year at my School 2007 District Finalist of 3 for Teacher of the Year State Assessor Trained Active New Teacher Mentor Certified and Highly Qualified

My own education history

I received my BS in education from Nicholls State University in 1997. I have a concentration in Biology with my minor being General Science. I have since taken many many graduate classes for "fun" as well as to increase acheivement with my students.

Additional biographical information

I am finally going back to complete my masters degree. I have enough hours to have my plus 30 plus some, but nothing that goes together for a degree. I apparently just like going to school!
