This set is for the new Reading Street Common Core series. I have created a reference set for teachers so they can quickly look over the skills covered that week or to help when writing lesson plans, a set for parents and students that could be attached to the newsletter and a set of half sheet "I can" and essential questions posters.
I also included a list of reading journal questions from the stories. There are two questions that correlate to the comprehension strategies per story.

It has the spelling words, high frequency words, amazing words, comprehension strategies, phonics, and writing skills for each story in unit one. I plan putting it on the back of my newsletter each week so my students' parents can see what skills we are working on (and I don't have to worry about typing all that information on the newletter!!).
The stories included are:
-The Twin Club

This is a set of graphic organizers and lined paper for a camping trip story. I used this along with the story Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night. I wanted something that showed students what I meant when I told them to add more detail. This 4-square graphic organizer has questions in each box to help students think about what kinds of details they need to include in their story.
I also created a story elements graphic organizer to go along with the story.
I created an even/odd sort that varies in difficulty. It includes:
connecting cubes cards
ten frame cards
number cards: 1-digit up to 3-digits
You could use the connecting cubes cards and ten frame cards to introduce or reteach this skill. It also includes a recording sheet for students to write the answers.
I love using the four square method but, as my students began writing more, there wasn't enough room for them to write in the boxes. Not to mention how hard it was for them to write in straight, neat lines. Therefore, I created a set of graphic organizers that allow for growth (and neatness).

More detailed units for first grade will be coming in July. Please stop by my store to see them.
These are three quick and easy foldables that can be used in any subject. The examples I included are for math. I created these half way through the school year for my students to use with their math journals. They love them and I often see my students looking through their journals to "admire" their work! What a great way to encourage students to review skills.
