This is a project is designed for 8th graders to show that they can apply the Pythagorean Theorem to real world situations. Student may work alone or with partners. I usually allow about three days of in-class work time, with technology, and finish the project with students sharing their word problems with the class. I've even used some word problems with future classes. This project assesses Common Core standard 8.G.7.
You will receive one page describing the project, and the second page is a
This resource provides a puzzle for students to complete, while evaluating square roots and cube roots to solve problems. The answer to each problem corresponds to a letter in the puzzle, which reveals a quote by Pythagoras. There are two versions of the puzzle, one in portrait format and one in landscape format. Also included are answer keys for both formats. Looking for more? Check out my Evaluating Square/Cube Roots & Estimating Square Roots Bundle found here: https://www.teacherspayteacher
The fun worksheets helps students practice solving linear equations, while determining if there is no solution, one solution or many solutions. Some equations also include the distributive property and combining like terms. As students solve, they use their solutions to answer a riddle at the bottom of the page, turning a practice worksheet into something more fun and enjoyable!
This worksheets provides students with practice with proportional relationships, by finding missing side lengths, and using ratios to determine similarity.
Students practice solving proportions, some that are easy and others that are a little tricky! As students solve each proportion, the can find the corresponding answer in the puzzle and shade it accordingly. The final result is a pattern that can be displayed for students to quickly check their work.
Included are six story problems were students are required to interpret data presented in tables, graphs, equations and stories. Students will practice identifying the y-intercept and slope/rate, and answer questions to compare functions presented in various ways. Some worksheets break the questions down into a step-by-step format. Worksheets can be used for practice, review, and assessing.
This resource can be used to help students practice multiplying and dividing integers. Students solve problems, find the corresponding answer in the grid, and shade accordingly. A pattern will appear with the correct shading. Includes an answer key.
The bundle provides many resources for your students to practice solving linear equations, in order to determine if each has no solution, one solution or many solutions. Students also practice solving linear equations using the distributive property and combining like terms.
Bundle includes...
