What Does My Grade Mean? Printable AND Editable Poster

Students strive to "do well" but often don't understand what an "A" or "85%" grade means. I use this poster to talk with the students at the beginning of the year about what grades mean and how we will use this poster to help us reflect on the assessment and know what our next steps will be. My kiddos in 3rd grade haven't received actual grades before, so this is a very new concept for them. This poster, along with conversations throughout the year, helps them understand what the letter and p

This project allows students to discover where some of the foundations of math come from. Students research a famous mathematician to learn about their early life, education, and contributions. The students must then describe WHY the contributions are important to math and/or their lives. This project is a "media project" - the students' projects are not paper/pencil, but instead created on a computer (powerpoint, prezi, typed report, etc.) A rubric is included to help evaluate the projects.

This CCSS 5th grade math data assessment tracking sheet is for your students. Teachers should use this in conjunction with data meetings or conferences to discuss the student's scores. A benefit to this tracking system is that the students' scores are now visible to them and they will learn a better understanding of what level mastery is and how they can achieve it. At the end of each domain is a benchmark assessment spot. This should be given after all of the standards within the domain are

THIS or THAT 3rd Grade Math Game gets the students engaged by providing a context for the math problems. The students must pick which answer (THIS or THAT) for the context and provide a rationale. This is a quick review game - only one slide is used at a time. Each slide has three comparisons - just slide the rectangle down to reveal the next set. This game only takes a few minutes, but allows for a fun review involving math and reasoning skills. Your students may surprise you and pick a va

Use this resource at the beginning of the year to help create a positive relationship between your students' parents. It asks your parents to write about their child: You might want to include a brief biography, special abilities or talents, fears, strengths, weaknesses, and relevant past school experiences. You could also tell me about your expectations for this school year: from your child, the school, and me. Please include any information that you want me to keep in mind while I work with
