This is a great activity to find vertical and horizontal distances on a coordinate plane. This activity includes all FOUR quadrants, and works on the Common Core Standard 6.NS.C 8. This is a great way to engage students in practicing how to reflect points on a coordinate plane. The will work in pairs (or by themselves) and draw from a deck of cards to create ordered pairs. Black cards represent positive numbers, and red represents negative numbers. Each ordered pair will be reflected over the x-axis and y-axis.
