UPDATED! - I have added a composition page and a bonus page. Plus, one part of the bonus could be used as a separate activity if desired. If you already own this product please re-download for the updates. These worksheets are designed to help your students not only create and compose a rhythm song but to also understand how the beats are added together to complete a full measure of 4/4 time. It allows them the freedom to choose their note or rest but then gives them the responsibility to

This is a set of posters of the six main dynamic levels. Each poster includes the dynamic symbol, Italian word and English meaning. Also included in the set is a poster with all the levels on it ranging from loudest to softest. These posters would be great for a wall or bulletin board display whether it is temporary or something you leave up all year long. I have also selected particular colors for each dynamic level to have a visual representation of the increase, or decrease, in volume.

I chose the favorite rhythm game "Bumble Bee" and decided to take it to the next level. In addition to the original rhythmic lyrics, I have created a second verse for the use of steady beat. In the original game, once the student is “out” of the game they typically stand or sit outside the circle and tap the steady beat with rhythm sticks or by clapping their hands. Now you have a chance to not only keep them more involved but to increase the DOK level as well! Now when the student is “out” they

This Ice Cream set is designed to help give you a visual when you are teaching the form of a song. Just as one may build the ultimate ice cream cone layer-by-layer and flavor-by-flavor, songs are built pretty much the same way. Start with your beginning, add a layer or two, repeat that layer, add a new one, repeat the first layer again and finish with a great ending! This set can be used with any song. Each piece can be cut out separately and you simply use the ones you need for the song y

Rest Area

Sometimes our students do not make wise choices and need to be separated from the group for a period of time. To help promote and encourage the learning of music symbols and names, instead of calling the place where you have your students stand/sit “time out”, call it your “Rest Area”. The name in itself implies that they need to calm down and reflect on their behavior and then the symbols on the poster will be reinforcing what you are teaching in the classroom. This has been an effective too

Additional biographical information

From the very beginning and throughout my life I have been enveloped with music and had a strong desire for teaching. I knew at the age of 12 that I wanted to become a band director. I followed my dream and fulfilled it. I thoroughly enjoyed my education growing up in Illinois and Mississippi and then continuing on to college at the University of Southern Mississippi where I received such wonderful instruction from the music faculty. I could not have asked for better professors. Throughout my career I have taught beginner band, junior high band, high school band, junior high general music and high school fine arts in Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana. In 2005, I had the opportunity to move back to Mississippi and begin teaching elementary music. I absolutely love what I do and strive to better myself each and every day. My goal is to give each of my students a great appreciation for music and a strong foundation in music fundamentals so when they reach middle school and high school they will be prepared and equipped to easily transition to further their music education. I also strive to instill in my students a confident knowledge and self-esteem that will benefit them throughout their life.
