Can your students break the code? In this engaging activity, students become "Code Breakers." They must find the Common Factors of specific number pairs to unlock a cipher and reveal a hidden secret message (a fun joke/riddle). BUILT-IN DIFFERENTIATION: We know every classroom has mixed abilities. This resource includes two versionsof the same puzzle: Level A (Scaffolded): Includes "Hint" columns (e.g., tells students how many factors to look for) to support struggling learners.Level B (Challe

About the store

Experience

I am currently a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program at Tufts University, honing my craft in Somerville, MA public schools. My focus is on Middle School Mathematics (Grades 5-8). Working in diverse classrooms has taught me that students engage best when math is relevant to their digital lives. I specialize in designing curriculum that bridges the gap between standard math skills and exciting real-world applications.

Teaching style

My teaching philosophy is built on three pillars: Real-World Connection, Visualization, and Interaction. Math is Everywhere: I strive to answer the question "When will I ever use this?" immediately. Instead of dry drills, my students learn math by becoming "Code Breakers"/"Detectives"/"Wizards and Witches"/... and understanding how math is actually is. Active Learning: I believe math shouldn't be a spectator sport. My lessons often include movements, hands-on experience and use gamification to build fluency without the boredom. Differentiation: Every resource I create is designed with multiple entry points—offering scaffolded "Hint" versions for those who need support and open-ended challenges for those ready to fly.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My biggest "shining moment" is seeing the lightbulb go on when a student realizes that math is actually a superpower. There is nothing better than watching a student—who usually says "I'm bad at math"—confidently crack a complex cipher. Seeing them engaged, arguing about strategies, and celebrating their "Aha!" moments is why I became a teacher.

My own education history

2025 - now: Tufts University, Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), Secondary Mathematics (Candidate) 2020 - 2025: Hanoi National University of Education, BA in Teaching Mathematics
