About this Lesson: This set of notes and homework are about pure substances existing in different states of matter and the points of change. Students will analyze graphs of different pure substances and estimate their points of change from the graph. It also allows students to understand that each pure substance exists in different states of matter depending upon how much kinetic energy the particles have. Experience

Taught general science curriculum to 7th and 8th graders for the past 6 years. Before becoming a teacher, I was a field biologist.

Teaching style

My teaching style is very hands on and inquiry based, however, also relies on students reflecting on what they have learned. I believe that science is best taught when students put together pieces of the concepts leading to mastery through experience. I also believe that all science should be relevant to students lives. My lessons try to incorporate past experiences and prior knowledge into new understandings that they can take out into the world and apply to new situations.
