These notes introduce inverse operations using simple addition and subtraction equations. The notes include some practice problems for students to do as class work or an exit ticket.

Created for Second graders to practice adding and creating sums close to 100. Students select two numbers, build the numbers, regroup when necessary, and discover ways to make 100. This station is easily modified for students to practicing creating sums higher than 100 or less than 100. The number cards have seahorse backs and can be printed as a two sided document. This file contains a student copy and teacher key for Math notes on using formulas. The notes give students a chance to practice plugging in numbers for simple formulas. I created these notes to introduce how to work with a simple formula before diving into complicated problem solving.

This is a small group Math station I created for my second graders. It is designed to introduce and practice the concept of whole number division. You will need: ice cube trays, a permanent marker to write inside the trays, and counters (like beans). Students practice using the ice cube tray, like a ten frame, to divide up specific amounts of the counters. I have included four practice pages. This station is designed to teach the basic concept of multiplication through the use of manipulatives. You will need to have a few ice cube trays and counters. I have four station recording sheets prepared for multiplying 2's, 5's, and 10's. I have also included a blank sheet for you to customize according the needs of your students.

These notes introduce applying multiplication and division properties to solve equations. The notes include a key and guided questions for students to work through with the teacher.

There are answer keys for both the quiz an study guide. I like to use these vocabulary quizzes throughout the quarter to keep students mindful of Math language.

Students make the target numbers 1-20 using only the digits 2, 3, and symbols +, -, and = . It is a good idea to model this first. I have included an example-recording sheet to help you explain how to do it. The point is to teach students to look for patterns with numbers. For example, if they know how to make six by adding 3 + 3, they should recognize that to make seven they need to do 3 + 3 to make six and add one more to make seven (3 + 3 +1 = 7).
