I have twenty-three years of experience. I have been a (K-5) math facilitator for seven years and a 3rd grade classroom teacher for six. Three of my 6 years as a third grade teacher, I departmentalized teaching mainly math, science, and social studies. Currently, I am a K-5 GT Specialist. Because of students’ struggles to build decimal number lines, order decimals, and round decimals, I made these number charts. Students learn to count to 100 in kindergarten with number charts because they make patterns evident…why not count with number charts to see patterns in decimals? Teaching style
When teaching I listen to students' misconceptions, and build my lessons around struggles that students may have had. I aspire to reach all learners' needs by providing differentiated instruction. I also seek to provide challenging instruction and tasks which focus on having students explain their thinking. My products come from struggles that I notice students having or challenges that I think students need to further their understanding of math concepts.
