Hundreds Pocket Chart Number Cards 1 - 1,200 {for games and counting}

With the common core standards there exists a need to have a hundreds chart with numbers that go past 100 so that students gain fluency with counting up to 1000 and beyond. Because of this need, these cards were created to extend the use of the hundreds pocket chart. When students have learned to count 1-100, higher numbers may be placed on the hundreds chart to recognize patterns and generate discussion. For example, you may decide to place numbers 51-150 on the chart so students can practic

This variety of number charts has been created for the purpose of helping students become strong with their sense of number. Students struggle with many mathematical concepts because they cannot simply count forwards and/or backwards beginning from any number. Most of these charts begin ten numbers before a multiple of 100 and end ten numbers after multiples after 100. This is in order that students are able to practice identifying what numbers come before and after multiples of 100, as this

These card sorts were designed for students to use after experiences solving addition and subtraction equations with snap or unifix cubes. For the card sorts to be most effective, allow students to work in pairs to solve them. This creates discussion which will provide an environment for evaluation (one of Bloom's higher levels of thinking). In each card sort, there is an extra card which is meant to create more discussion among student pairs. The extra card may look like the match to anothe

These fraction number cards were made by request from someone who purchased my Decimal Number Line. The cards are made into triangles so that once cut, they can precisely point to a certain equivalent decimal on a number line. However, they can be used to hang on the classroom wall to make a simple fraction number line without decimals. These also would work well as a comparing activity for individual groups or as a whole class comparing activity. I recommend printing these onto card stock a

This updated collection of scaffolded practice pages comes from my experiences teaching third grade students the concept of addition and subtraction branching. Branching is a method of decomposing numbers to add and subtract. Included is also a description of how to display students' branching with matching printables, so that students collectively can create a 'mathterpiece' with their branching. Most of the sums are within 100, but a few of the addition sums go over 100. These are noted w

Because decimal notation is difficult for students to understand in both word and number form, this decimal number line has been created with base ten block representations to help students see the size of each decimal number. The zeros on the end of the decimals are barely visible to support students’ understanding that the zeros have no value on the end of
