Experience

Teaching has always been my passion in life ever since I was a child I remember role playing as a teacher to my younger brother. I have always loved children and I'm so happy to have picked this career. Before becoming a Elementary School teacher I began working in a local daycare as a Group Teacher teaching kindergarten. I have been teaching for about 21 years. I am currently the K-2 ENL teacher at my school.

Teaching style

I believe children should have lots of hands on activities. Teachers should get to know each of his/her students and think of fun teaching tools that would enhance their learning. Teachers should also look at the child's learning modality and adjust his/her teaching to get to those kids. I strongly believe in using literature to enhance one's lessons. I read many books to my students and believe there is a lesson in all of the books I read. It gets my students motivated, engages their thinking, helps increase listening skills and it helps them discuss the topic being addressed. I also love incorporating Arts to my lessons especially after reading a book. Art has always been one of my most favorite topics because being a very shy quiet student, I was always able to express myself through the Arts and feel that it can reach those quieter students and help the others express themselves in a new creative way.
