I know that creating an online curriculum is ridiculously challenging, especially for music, so I figured I would share this lesson with y'all. This is a lesson works through Google Forms, it discusses Major and Minor sounds. I've used it in the past as a self-guided lesson as well as a substitute lesson and it's worked very well. It works solely on recognizing the difference between them (this lesson does not go into detail such as raised or lowered scale degrees). Perfect for grades 4 and up

This pack is for the K-6 sub who wants to be prepared for everyone or for the Elementary administration who wants a back up plan for every room on their campus. Each lesson is complete with notes on transitions, break ideas, activities listed by subject, printables for every listed activity, as well as "extra time" ideas. All you need to do is print out the day's schedule and a

When teaching students to rhythms, often the easiest way is to "trick" them into learning. This packet includes three versions of the same picture so that you can choose which skill you want your kids to practice. I recommend keeping at least one printed and ready just in case you n

One of the most important lessons with kindergarten students is teaching them to identify and use their four voices: sing, speak, whisper, and shout. Knowing how and when to use these voices helps not only with classroom management, but also in finding their singing voice. This lesson introduces the voices, practices them with a game, and reviews them with a fun quiz in the form of a song - all while keeping the students moving, discussing, and engaged. These pages allow your students to search and find for a specific rhythm. When they color all of them, it will reveal the rhythm's "nick name" (i.e. coloring the quarter note reveals the word "ta," half notes = two, whole notes = toe, eighth notes = ti-ti, and quarter rests = sh). This is a great worksheet to use as a reinforcement after a lesson introducing a new rhythm. It encourages the students to distinguish small differences between the traditional icons (filled in hole for a quarter note

This lesson is perfect for introducing lines and spaces to your students and teaching them to begin identifying letters on the staff. Often the best way to get students to learn theory is to do it through games and all too often we teach note reading in lecture style. With this lesson, students will be teaching each other the concepts using TIC-TAC-TOE. I have used this lesson with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade classes and they would play the game for the whole lesson if I'd let them! Once the studen

Experience

I am a trained music teacher who's enjoyed everything from teaching full time, to substitute teaching across a myriad of elementary schools, to covering a preschool class for nearly a full year. I like to think that when it comes to prek-6 I've seen it all!

Teaching style

I foster structured classrooms that encourage children to learn through play, exploration, and experiences. Sometime we have to be serious, and that's okay, as long as we leave time for silly as well.

My own education history

I attended Northern Arizona University where I studied Choral Music Education under the direction of Dr. Edith Copley, Dr. Ryan Holder and Dr. & Mrs. Stamer.
