Australian money swat is a fun way to develop your students recognition of Australian coins and notes. Each student sits in a circle with a fly swat. One person pulls calling cards out from a bag. The first person to swat the corresponding fly keeps the fly. When all the flies have been collected, each player counts up how many flies they swatted. The person who has swatted the most flies wins!

Students use counters to move around the game board. When they land on a number, the student then counts on 5 more (For example, if the player lands on 12, they then count on 5 more: “13, 14, 15, 16, 17”). If they can do that successfully, they can stay on their space. If they can’t, they move back 2 spots. First person to make it back to start is the winner.
