This is a bingo game created to review for the final for second semester in geometry. The problems include the following topics:
1) transformations
2) basic trigonometry
3) properties of circles to find angle measures and arc lengths
4) area, surface area, volume, and perimeter of various shapes (prism, kite, cylinder, hexagon, triangle, parallelogram)
6) special right triangles
7) vocabulary (chord, tangent, radius)
8) similarity ratio
Answers are included for quick reference
This is a PowerPoint presentation to be used to introduce finding surface area and volume of prisms and cylinders. It includes a link to a webpage with interactive examples of nets of various 3-D figures, including prisms and cylinders.
This is a quick pre-assessment of skills to be used in a chapter regarding congruent triangles. The skills assessed here include:
1) solving linear equations (single and multi-step)
2) using protractors to draw and measure angles
3) classifying angles (i.e., acute, obtuse, right, and straight)
4) identify theorems and postulates (vertical angles, alternate interior angles, and corresponding angles)
A collection of small assessments for four different unit topics in geometry:
1) Basics of Geometry
2) Reasoning and Proof
3) Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
4) Congruent Triangles
Some of the skills being assessed and the CA State Standard in Geometry that is addressed are listed below:
A) identifying theorems (i.e., vertical angles, alternate interior angles)(CA State Standard 1.0)
B) using theorems involving the properties of parallel lines cut by a transversal (7.0)
C) find and use mea
This is an assessment that can be used prior to beginning a chapter about parallel and perpendicular lines. The skills checked here are:
1) solving linear equations (single and multi-step)
2)finding angle measures using vertical angles, linear pairs, complementary, and supplementary angles
3) using algebraic properties of equality
4) using properties of length and measure
5) reasoning and justification
Using a tool theme, I created a PowerPoint presentation to be viewed and discussed with students as they follow along completing the pages of their packet. This activity serves as a review of the chapter about circles and their properties. It includes rules and equations for students to use to find missing angle measures or segment lengths. Slides 9 - 15 are to be printed out as a packet for each student.
This is an assessment intended to check the following skills to begin a geometry course:
1) adding and subtracting positive numbers
2) evaluating operations by squaring and adding
3) evaluating radical expressions (and using calculator to round to the nearest hundredth)
Order of operations is addressed here using "PEMDAS", a common acronym used to help students remember.
This is a quick assessment of the following skills:
1) identify coplanar points
2) find angle measures using vertical angles and linear pairs
It asks students to justify their answers which provides a good segway into a chapter about reasoning and proofs.
