Happy Valentine's Day!! Your students will love this activity! You can use the hearts for a project you had in mind or the students can make a collage or Valentine's Day card for Mom, Dad or whoever they choose to say, "I love you!" They can color the hearts with a crayon, colored pencil or whatever medium you choose. After they are finished coloring, they would cut out the hearts and create their most beautiful piece of art and include a paragraph sharing their feelings.

Teaching style

Interactive, ABA ideas/strategies. Motivation is key to learning. So we must understand that a reward will increase learning. I start with, What is rewarding to the student? Then assessment, data collection, mastery of a skill, analyze the progress to determine the next skill to teach and evaluate progress. Am I asking the question, Why is this student stuck and not showing progress? For a struggling student, this question is essential.

Awards & shining teacher moments

The moments in my career that are memorable to me are completing my Specialist Degree in School Administration, working in an ABA Unit in my school, becoming an Autism Coach and training other staff and training the staff to analyze and handle challenging behaviors. Toward the end of my career, I completed 9 credits in Applied Behavior Analysis. A teacher never stops learning.

My own education history

BA in Recreation Education, MS in Special Education, Specialist Degree in School Administration, 9 credits in Behavior Analysis
