About the store
This will be my 20th year as a teacher. I have taught grades 4-6 primarily. My focus has been on fifth and sixth grade math and reading. I am a gifted intervention specialist and regular gen ed classroom teacher.

Monster Proportions and Measurement
Alignment: 6th grade Common Core Standard, 6.RP.2, 6.RP.3d and 6.RP.3b, 6.RP.3.
These are cards with funny story problems related to monsters! There are 9 task cards that can be used in many different ways. I list ideas such as Scoot, Centers/Stations, Move Around the World etc. This activity gets the kids up and moving, while making them think critically, use proportions and solve problems dealing mainly with measurement, but some unit rate as well! What a fun activity to compliment the

Common Core Proportions Checkpoint
Checkpoints are my version of a formative assessment. This one is 10 questions all based on the common core standards dealing with proportions, unit rates, similar figures, and converting measurements. There is an I can statement at the top as well as a spot for you to mark whether the student is proficient or nonproficient.

Experience
This will be my 20th year as a teacher. I have taught grades 4-6 primarily. My focus has been on fifth and sixth grade math and reading. I am a gifted intervention specialist and regular gen ed classroom teacher.
Teaching style
I have very high expectations for my students and implement those through challenging and rigorous tasks that align with the common core. I am very hands on and focus on interactive ideas in my classroom. I integrate 21st century skills as much as possible in order to help my students learn!
Awards & shining teacher moments
I have been nominated 3 years for Barnes and Noble Teacher of the Year award by past students, which has been a great honor as well as Ohio Teacher of the Year.
My own education history
I graduated from Ashland University with a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Math, Reading and Language Arts. I then obtained my Master's Degree from Bowling Green State University in Gifted Education. I also have my endorsement in Social Studies and Science and just finished my Doctorate in k-12 leadership.

I have been in the same school district for 18 years now and love my job! I have 2 wonderful children and a great husband that support my career!
