About the store

This will be my 20th year as a teacher. I have taught grades 4-6 primarily. My focus has been on fifth and sixth grade math and reading. I am a gifted intervention specialist and regular gen ed classroom teacher.

All About Me Math Project (Aligns to the Number System)

This project is something I do during our very first unit in 6th grade, which is the Number System for us. There are 3 different levels included to use with gifted to low students. You can edit as needed as well. The students create a poster or book answering the questions listed for their level. Each question has a specific standard that is addressed in order to show their answer. The project includes how I use it, my introduction to the students, and the 3 levels of complexity as well as

Teaching style

I have very high expectations for my students and implement those through challenging and rigorous tasks that align with the common core. I am very hands on and focus on interactive ideas in my classroom. I integrate 21st century skills as much as possible in order to help my students learn!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have been nominated 3 years for Barnes and Noble Teacher of the Year award by past students, which has been a great honor as well as Ohio Teacher of the Year.

My own education history

I graduated from Ashland University with a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Math, Reading and Language Arts. I then obtained my Master's Degree from Bowling Green State University in Gifted Education. I also have my endorsement in Social Studies and Science and just finished my Doctorate in k-12 leadership.
