About the store

This will be my 20th year as a teacher. I have taught grades 4-6 primarily. My focus has been on fifth and sixth grade math and reading. I am a gifted intervention specialist and regular gen ed classroom teacher.

I have found that since we adopted the Common Core Standards many parents have shown frustration while helping their children with their homework. They do not feel that they can help them anymore as the concepts are new and it has been a long time since they learned similar concepts. In order to help bridge the gap and ease some parents minds, I have created this guide to 6th Grade math. It has all 5 domains included and all the standards that the students need to learn. Experience

Teaching style

I have very high expectations for my students and implement those through challenging and rigorous tasks that align with the common core. I am very hands on and focus on interactive ideas in my classroom. I integrate 21st century skills as much as possible in order to help my students learn!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have been nominated 3 years for Barnes and Noble Teacher of the Year award by past students, which has been a great honor as well as Ohio Teacher of the Year.

My own education history

I graduated from Ashland University with a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Math, Reading and Language Arts. I then obtained my Master's Degree from Bowling Green State University in Gifted Education. I also have my endorsement in Social Studies and Science and just finished my Doctorate in k-12 leadership.
