Easy to do Bohr diagram and Lewis dot structure worksheet

Created by
SciYeung
This is a well laid out Bohr diagram and Lewis Dot structure worksheet for struggling students in placing the electrons around the nucleus. There are empty boxes around the shells so that students will understand where to place the electrons and to follow the 2-8-8 rule. The questions on the side are also great lead up questions to guide the students how to calculate the necessary numbers to draw Bohr models and Lewis Dot structures.

Here is an excellent unit project that I use in my classroom. The students absolutely love building these circuits and the best part is that you don't need high tech circuit tools and supplies to complete this! What is it? This is a UNIT PROJECT that I use with my gr.9 students during the electricity unit. Instead of giving them notes and lecture on the differences between a series and parallel circuit, I briefly prep them with basic intro information (see my other post on the Keynote present

This is a good basic project to have the students build a 3-D model of the skin. The project encourages students to build a 3-D Skin model to build, and describe the functions of various skin components. The assignment is out of 30 marks and a sample is attached on the second page. Directions: You and a partner (or 2) will be creating a 3-D model of skin structure representing healthy skin. You will need to include all the structures listed below, as well as a list of the functions of each

Cladogram using the evolution of cell phones investigation

This investigation promotes student learning by using 20 different cell phones from different decades to establish a cladogram. Typically cladograms are used in biology to show the similarities and differences between organisms, but this one elicits student interest and can be used as an initial activity to stir up discussion. This investigation can be used prior to "Investigation 2" as Investigation 2 is focused mainly on organisms. You just need to print and cut out the boxes and present

What is it? There are 9 cards of different inventions/discoveries regarding electricity for printout that you distribute to each student or small groups. Draw a simple timeline on the board, and have the students place the cards in when the discoveries are made after brief discussion. Conclude with students seeing each others' responses in comparison to their own. Why? This is an excellent initializing / activating activity to get the students thinking about electricity. Instead of just j

Here is a simple inquiry activity for students to determine and see the difference between distance and displacement. In this activity, the students are to roll a die and flip a coin for the number of steps and direction, respectively, on a number line. After, they are prompt with questions in seeing what the difference between distance and displacement is. The concepts should be reinforced after the activity. This project tackles the Tissues Unit of Anatomy and Physiology. It provides students various opportunities to showcase their talents in demonstrating their understanding. Some of my students decided to write a song, produce an original short video, or write a short comic book. The following projects include but not restricted to the following: • Music video of tissues • A skit (Fake surgical video/fun skit etc…) • A comic book or storybook • A model of various tissues found in the body •

This is a great STEM practical laboratory for anyone teaching Gas Laws in chemistry. The Gas laws are often taught by each of that laws being separate and having students complete worksheets after worksheets on the gas laws, but what is needed in chemistry is for students to understand the theory conceptually and apply their knowledge. This is a laboratory / inquiry project where, instead of teaching the gas laws separately and explicitly, the students are provided with all of the gas laws an

What the product is about? If you have hockey fans in your classroom and you are teaching about mean, median and mode, this is a great research activity for the students to research on their favourite hockey players, and decide based on their statistics, who the "Greatest Hockey Player" of all time is. How the product is structured? There are 6 pages in this Part I project. This project is strictly on calculating mean, median and mode of 3 different NHL hockey players. The project is c

This activity is to get the students to be creative in creating and designing their own antigens and their complementary antibody pair. Students are often asked to look at diagrams of blood types where the Type "A" antigens are usually in the shape of a triangle while the type "B" antigens are in a semi-circle form, but why not get the students be creative and come up with their own antigen / antibody pair. I stress a lot on creativity in my classroom. To start this activity, prior knowledge

Here is a great activity to get your students up and moving. Get your students into groups of 2-3. Distribute an answer sheet to each group. Each group picks up a random Erlenmeyer card (32 in total) and balances the reaction. Once the group is done, they bring their answer sheet up and the teacher verifies their answer. If they are correct, they pick another one to solve. This will continue until the first group gets all the Erlenmeyer cards. Here is a short video on the activity: Youtub

They are then to arrange them in their complexity, thus, coming up with a general cladogram. This is a very effective exercise to introduce and/or reinforce cladogram drawing since it allows the students to arrange them based on their complexity, and also see how organisms (or phones) have

About the store

Experience

3 years international (Hong Kong, Ghana, and Malaysia) 7 years in Canadian schools. I have taught all maths and sciences from gr.9-12.

Teaching style

I love to make my students think, and process information. Although memorization is important to learning, it should not be the only source. All of my items have been tested and used in the classroom. I love hands-on activities, inquiry learning and problem-based learning. All the activities encourage cooperative learning via game playing or interaction with peers. I will not sell simple basic worksheets (unless they are part of an unit). The target audience is gr.9-12 so the graphics are age appropriate.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Other than my students' awesome approval... none Macromolecules card game pending publication!
