Play Ten Frame Top-It and reinforce your students' Number Sense with these cards. Each card has three ten frames to be consistent and allow students to see the differences between the numbers. These large and colorful Flash Cards were created with my ELL students in mind. Our school is quite diverse and I have been privileged to work with students from various cultures and backgrounds. This provides challenges as well as rewards. My biggest challenge with these students has been their inability to develop a personal relationship to their numbers. They just don’t understand what the word or numeral “five” means. Their parents, bless their hearts, just don’t know how to talk

This packet was just created this past weekend after seeing my students' scores on the STAR Math test. One of their areas where they could improve was in their Place Value so I went to work starting with identifying digits in the Hundreds, Tens, and Ones Place of a 3-Digit Number. Success! They loved it and my each of my six math groups were able to complete this with very brief instructions at the beginning of the week. Each group took roughly 12-15 minutes which is perfect during our rotat

Number of the Day Practice Guided Math Independent Work This pack contains cards with Numbers 1-180, but also provides the opportunity for differentiation without too much explanation after the procedure is taught. I use Six Super Hero names for my Guided Math Groups so the High, Middle, and Lowest ability groups are identified with those names. Each card is about 8" by 5" and can be used in order or mixed up. A recording sheet is included with this pack. You may use the included recording

We concentrate on place value throughout the school year, but I have found this activity to be a favorite of my students. We began with matching the Ten Frames to the Base-10 Blocks and when I felt they were ready for a change I swapped out for other Number Names. This was fun for my students and gave me the opportunity to mix my Guided Math Groups around. Later in the year we used the Word Name Cards to focus on correct spelling of our Number Words. In my Guided Math Rotations I have this a

I love structure and believe students do, too. Spending time during the first 6 weeks of school is well worth it later in the school year when the students know the expectations and are willing to learn from their mistakes.
