Election Unit for Kindergarten and First Grade
In this 6 day unit, students will learn vocabulary relating to voting and elections. They will then put the vocabulary into action by simulating the voting process from voter registration through election day. Included in this product is a list of vocabulary and definitions, 6 day lesson plan, teacher support resources, and enrichment options. This has been a favorite of my students for many years - so much so that we've even had media coverage of the unit!

Mentoring Students: T.I.M.E. Report Teachers Involve Mentors in Education
Sometimes kids and adults want to work together but they need help facilitating this relationship. This report helps accomplish just that. This form has students and mentors evaluate grades for strengths and weaknesses, evaluate content being covered in class, and provides the opportunity for discussion on improvement. Following Directions - An Anytime Activity
Students of all ages struggle with following directions. These activities are a fun way to practice listening and/or reading skills. Students are given a list of instructions. Then when time is up, they may check their answers to the answer key. Instructions vary from ‘draw a circle in the upper right corner’ to ‘take your age and multiply it by 2’. Geometric Pictures Projects (2 projects in 1!)
An Anytime Activity! Great math emergency sub plan!
I have used these projects in a variety of ways: an introduction to my Geometry course, a review before a midterm or exam, review for state testing, or an activity at a random part of the year where I need to fill some time. No matter when I have done the Geometric Pictures Project, students have really enjoyed the hunt and the choice of vocabulary within each category.

My philosophy of teaching is to find different ways for students to learn. I believe it is important to show students that math does apply to the "real world" and that yes, indeed, math can be fun.

I enjoy trying new strategies with my students and 'trying' to keep up with them and technology in the classroom.
