Banksy Information PowerPoint - Looking and Responding to an Artist's Work

Banksy is a graffiti artist, famous for his use of stencils to create street art found all over the world. His controversial art pieces have been a topic of discussion for many years now. I found my 6th class in particular loved learning about Banksy and his art pieces sparked interesting discussions and debates in the classroom. After learning about Banksy and his use of stencils, we made then stencils of our own in an art lesson. They were tricky and definitely more suited for older classes

Pancake Tuesday - Funny Pancake Face Cutting & Sticking Activity

This activity is great and a fine motor activity or for kiddos still mastering the skill of cutting and sticking. Simply print a pancake template for each child and a few of the 'eyes, noses and mouths'. It's such a simple activity but my students got a real kick out of how funny their pancake faces turned out. I did this activity during Aistear time (Ireland) as part of the arts and crafts station when we did 'The Bakery' theme. This is also a great extension activity when learning about/celebr

SPHE - Bullying VS Good Friend Sorting Activity

This activity relates to the stand Myself and others and the My friends and other people stand unit. I use this activity to highlight the differences between friendly and bullying behaviour. I also use it as a way of assessing pupil's understanding of what bullying can look like. I printed and laminated these sheets and stored the small square in zip lock bags. Pupils worked in groups of 3/4 to sort the different pictures into either the 'bullying' or 'good friend' box. After completing this ac

I love you to pieces - Valentines Day card template

My students all love doing this activity. I get red, pink, purple, white coloured paper and let them rip off little pieces and then stick them into the love heart in the middle of the page. It's always a real novelty for them to rip up paper!! It is such an easy, low prep art activity for Valentines Day and the result is so cute. I hope you enjoy doing it with your class! A little tip.. print this template onto white card instead of normal paper so that it can withstand the glue!

Irish Alphabet Display and Flash Cards - Aibítear as Gaeilge

I use these in my classroom in two ways; 1. I print this resource on A3 paper, laminate them, cut them out and use these as part of my display on my Gaeilge board. 2. I print them on A4 paper, cut them out and use them as flash cards in small groups during Gaeilge lessons. I play games such as 'Tabhair dom an capall'. My kids love the pictures and all the vocabulary used has been learnt in previous lessons so this helps.

Keith Haring Information PowerPoint - Looking and Responding to an Artist's Work

Keith Allen Haring was an American artist whose pop art emerged from the New York City graffiti subculture of the 1980s. His animated imagery has "become a widely recognized visual language". My 4th class boys loved learning about Haring and they really enjoyed looking at his artwork especially the murals he had done on buildings. After learning about Haring in this PowerPoint slideshow we did a 30 minute art lesson inspired by the style of Haring. This art activity is so accessible to student

Boggle Worksheet & Letter Display - Literacy Stations or Early Finisher Activity

Boggle is such a fun way to encourage students to practice their spelling and to create words from letters. I use this resource as an early finisher activity in my classroom. I display the letters on my 'early finisher board' and have the worksheets readily available for my students. I change the letters weekly and we correct the worksheets on a Friday. I usually give dojo points/prize to whoever gets the most points! The display letters involve little/no prep. Just print them on A4/A3 paper an

Loud and Soft Sounds Worksheet

Loud and Soft Sounds Worksheet I used this worksheet with my students to show the difference between loud and soft sounds. This covers Recognising and showing the difference between loud and soft sounds from the Listening and responding to music strand. I found these sounds easily on YouTube to play and the children had to colour in the picture red if they thought it was a loud sound and green if it was a soft sound. They loved it and got so excited at some of the sounds.
