In this lab, students will discover how friction effects the speed of an object. Students will pair up. While one student runs a specified distance with their shoes, the other student will record. Students will then test their hypothesis without shoes. Students will graph their times and see how friction played a roll in their speed. This is a great, student centered activity that gives them real world examples of the needs for friction! It is also a great integrated lesson that includes math an
