Arithmetic and Geometric Sequences and Series Football Review Game

Created by
The Engineer
This game is a football-themed review of arithmetic and geometric sequences and series. It is a game meant to be played as a class with students split into small groups, but could be used in many different ways. Easy questions are worth the fewest points and the harder questions are worth the most. This game serves as a great review activity at the end of a sequence & series chapter. My kids have thoroughly enjoyed this game because it is different.

This worksheet includes notes and example problems related to permutations and combinations. Permutations and combinations are very similar, so with the help of some pictures, examples, formulas, and example problems, students should know the difference once they are done with this sheet. The worksheet includes a playing card activity, one of my favorite items to use in a statistics classroom.

To play this game in our class, I put two chairs facing the class so that the "contestants" can't see the word on the screen. Next, I ask the students in the "audience" for one word clues. Whoever gives the clue that helps a contestant guess the word gets to take the losing contestant's place in the front. The kids LOVE this game and ask to play all of the time. It's simple, but different.

I keep going until the slide run out. The winner is the person who has moved the farthest from their original starting point. This would make a great practice activity for upper elementary
