About the store
I have been a middle school ELA teacher since 2012, teaching at both private and public schools. In the summer, I spend my time teaching 7th grade, 10th grade, and/or advanced and remedial 12th graders in the public and private school system. At my current school, I teach ELA to grades 4-6 and Religion for grades 5-6, where classes are fully inclusive and focus on high standards while integrating the NYS Common Core Learning Standards and modules. I absolutely love my job and teaching all of my diverse students!

Alliteration, Assonance, & Consonance Packet
This packet includes one page of notes regarding the three vocabulary terms, and then one worksheet for each of the terms accompanied by the answer key, which totals to more than 40 sentences/questions. The worksheets can be used as individual or group work, or even as an entry task. The three terms identified are terms that students are required to know according to the NYS modules and NYS CCLS.

Prefix & Suffix Worksheet
The worksheet includes one note page, a worksheet, and the corresponding answer key, which all focus on the terms "prefix", "suffix", "affix", and "root word". This is a helpful worksheet to introduce the vocabulary terms to students or to use as a quick and easy review.
The worksheet is comprised of fifteen terms that requires students to circle the prefix or suffix being used in each word and to label the type of affix.

A Christmas Carol Text Dependent Questions & Answers
The questions are based on Charles Dickens’ play, A Christmas Carol, and combine both multiple choice and short-response questions. All questions use sentence stems or reflect the format of the Common Core standards. I recommend using the Common Core exam 2-Point Grading Rubric to grade the short-response questions. An expanded form of the grading rubric has been included at the end of the TDQs Answer Key portion of the packet.

Bud, Not Buddy Rule Book & Project
In correlation with the Common Core Learning Standards and module 2, this summative project is meant to assist students with their writing and reading skills by combining Bud Caldwell’s own rulebook with their own creation. Included in the packet is a modified rule sheet for students to record Bud’s rules while reading the novel, along with an answer key for those rules. Elementary Poetic Elements Flashcard Cut-Outs
Based on the ELA standards, elementary students should have these poetic elements mastered by the time they begin fifth grade. Therefore, to assist students in learning and applying these poetic elements in their lessons and other tasks, students can make flashcards using this handout. Monthly Independent Reading Log
With the hectic middle school schedule, this reading log requires students to read a total of two hours every week and then record the pertinent information on the handout. The handout includes four weeks on one reading log, requiring students to complete a gist for every week, and two hours, that they read. Parents must sign off on the gist and two hours of reading per week to hold the students accountable.

Student Presentation Critique Packet
Through the use of this graphic organizer, students are given the opportunity to privately critique their peers’ presentations, which, in turn, encourages the students to listen closely to each presentation. To encourage honesty, I collect the critique packets at the end of each class and then redistribute the packet to the students at the start of the next class (if presentations continue). Teaching style
I believe that students need to learn at their highest ability, and should also enjoy what they're learning. My students understand that every assignment or activity has a later purpose, which generally leads to an essay and a creative project.
