The questions are based on Charles Dickens’ play, A Christmas Carol, and combine both multiple choice and short-response questions. All questions use sentence stems or reflect the format of the Common Core standards. I recommend using the Common Core exam 2-Point Grading Rubric to grade the short-response questions. Poetic Elements Projects: Poster and Brochure

Teaching poetic elements can be a tedious task and one that is oftentimes met with unhappiness from some, or all, students. These projects offer the students creative ways to learn the poetic elements in a student-centered format by teaching their classmates a specific poetic element. Students can have the option to create a brochure or poster that describes, in detail, a poetic element that they have either chosen or were assigned. I ensure that no more than two students are assigned the same p

This form allows the teacher to list all important information that the student missed from class that day, along with giving another classmate the opportunity to fill in the information for other classes on the other side of this handout. Quote Starter Posters

Students may struggle using quote starters as they start to learn and continue to use quotes as evidence in their writing. By posting these posters throughout the ELA classroom, or any room that would be beneficial to the students, students would have constant and easy access to various quote starters. I laminated the posters and posted them in my room for the school year, and have noticed students using the posters without prompting.

To encourage honesty, I collect the critique packets at the end of each class and then redistribute the packet to the students at the start of the next class (if presentations continue). At the end of all student presentations, I collect the packets again and closely read all of the students

Teaching style

I believe that students need to learn at their highest ability, and should also enjoy what they're learning. My students understand that every assignment or activity has a later purpose, which generally leads to an essay and a creative project.
