This is a master doc for students to research universities they're interested in. It takes into consideration everything from the admissions process to alumni outlook and concludes with students reflecting on the reasons they can and cannot see themselves attending here. I attach this doc as an assignment on Google Classroom, so that each student can edit directly. I also have my students add the Doc to a folder on their Google Drive labeled "College" where they store all things college related
This is the Google Slides I use to introduce the social sciences and history to my students. It includes excerpts from historians and various levels of questions to encourage students to inquire. I print out the One Pager (linked on slide 1) for students to take notes on.
Have students keep a running list of feelings, actions, sayings, and thoughts for each historical figure and others affecting them. This will help them understand each figure on a deeper level by having them select the most significant info, provide an efficient study tool, and help them on exams by making educated guesses based on their deep understanding of historical figures. For IB History, my students complete this for each US president we study, and it’s kept in their interactive notebook

This Google Form will help you get to know your students better by asking questions to help you learn their identity, what they do outside of your class, and what type of learner they are. This way, you can adapt your classroom to your students!
To encourage student engagement in class and towards their studies, I reward them with stamps (I bought a personalized stamp on Etsy by @pixumdesigns!). Once they earn 10 stamps, they are able to submit it for a selected/suggested reward. Some of the most common things I reward stamps for: 1. Participation in class 2. Reaching a checkpoint during class (helps students learn how to pace their work while also holding them accountable) 3. Homework completion (as opposed to putting it into the grad
This packet will guide you and your colleagues through the Student Work Analysis Protocol to help analyze a colleague's student work and provide meaningful and constructive feedback. It's also a great opportunity to spark productive conversations that further develop pedagogy and best practices.
Give this to a student to fill out when they ask for a letter of recommendation. It will help you narrow your focus of your letter in order to build upon what they've included without being repetitive. It should be given in addition to a more detailed brag sheet/resume, so that the process is more efficient for you.
A fun way to have your students review for a unit test or final by encouraging them to critically select the most significant terms and concepts. I have my students complete this in groups and then after collecting all of the responses, I turn it into a Google Forms. Students then vote for the MOST significant of all the provided terms/concepts for each letter.
Use this worksheet to guide students in using their time more effectively. Starting big projects is the hardest part, so accomplishing small parts in small amounts of time adds up in a great way!

Teaching style
My goal is to teach my students what I refer to as the Tool belt of Learning. This will provide them academic, organization, and life skills they can transfer across disciplines and grade levels.
I also believe in front loading skills, so that students head into the year knowing what is ahead. I also provide them an overview of the skills from the Tool Belt of Learning that will be beneficial to them throughout the year, in other classes, and beyond.
