This three puzzle offering is in "celebration" of March 14, Pi Day. All three puzzles can be done by seventh graders through seniors, though the younger students might be best working in groups on the crossword. The math required for the Math Pi History is just adding and subtracting whole numbers . . . though since I'd LIKE them to be done MENTALLY even seniors can get something out of it. Two are word searches and the other uses some elementary powers of numbers with some elementary binary operations to uncover some facts about cell phones . . . and their disposal . . . along with a coded message that is apt. Four of the puzzles are centered about his A Christmas Carol, another is a brief "arithmetical biography", and the other a blended math/literature puzzle that introduces the "doer" to 14 of Dickens' aptly named characters.
