Zeno Word - Small Group Readers' Theater Pack
This Reader's Theater pack was designed to get kids practicing the Zeno words. The 107 MOST used sight words which are 50% of most texts. There are parts for 3 - 4 students. There are other words in each script but they are low words - used for K - 1st grade. All Words not in the Zeno list are listed on the front page of each script. This reader's theater was written for 4 students. It was written for students who are on a 1st grade reading level. It is on level G. The Little Red Hen finds some wheat seeds and wants to plant them to get wheat for flour which she will use to make yummy bread. She asks her friends to help her but they will not. We Are Bob - Small Group Reader's Theater Using ONLY Zeno Words!
This Reader's Theater uses Zeno words as well as a few K - 1st dolch words. Zeno words are the MOST used in the English language. 50% to 60% of the words found on any page of a book are the first 100 words that we call Zeno words. There are 51 words in the script. My First Reader's Theater - The Doll
This script was written for three students. The script was written for mid Kindergarten through 1st grade level students. It was designed as a center for the classroom. Almost all words are from the Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade Dolch sight word list which includes the Zeno words. My First Reader's Theater - We Will See!
When I designed these, I pictured the first day where each group would be cutting out the sight words and then practicing with each other. This reader's theater was written for 4 students. It was written for students who are on a 1st grade reading level. Teaching style
I really believe in the Piaget approach along with the 7 different learning styles. I try to incorporate 3 styles at a time into my lessons to enhance learning. I also focus on high engagement and have yet to follow my lesson plan to the 'T' because of this.
Thus showing how lessons are 'in the moment' and adjust that way to my students.
One of my favorite things is getting rid of grading papers and switching to a quick check at the end of the lesson. Within 3-5 minutes and usually 3 questions, I can identify and mark where each student is and then adjust the lesson for the next day accordingly. Ie. adding more reteach or extensions etc. Yes, there are still papers selected to go into a folder for them to show their parents to celebrate and demonstrate their own success but they are more intentionally selected and made.

I now live on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation in Owyhee Nevada. We still miss our dear friends from Monument Valley. If you, too, like teaching in the trenches and want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire, they are a place to go. Both have a desperate need for committed teachers. I have 7 children, am learning (slowly) Spanish, Navajo, and Sign Language, and I love to Crochet!
