Description
A long division error analysis activity that you and your students will love! In this standards-aligned division activity, students will look at 10 problems and determine what mistake was made when completing the problem. Students are given several options to consider when looking for the mistake. Once the mistake is found and identified, students will correctly solve the problem on their recording sheet. I have also included 6 division problems that have decimal dividends using whole digit divisors. For example 9.63 divided by 3.
This is a very rigorous and high-level thinking activity since it requires students to analyze and justify their thinking.
This error analysis activity is great for incorporating movement into your classroom! Your students can walk around the room to solve the problems, play scoot, have a gallery walk, play a task card game, or incorporate into your math centers. Your mathematicians will be shocked when you tell them, they don’t have to solve the problem!
