Description
This kindergarten math game is a perfect resource for math centers and guided math groups. Your students will love finding the number that is one more. It's also great for Preschool or Pre-k students who are ready to find one more.
In this exciting game, called Mermaid Island, students must count the items on each card and determine one more. They an determine one more by drawing one more object, placing one more manipulative on the card, using a number line, or counting on. You can also have students fill out a recording sheet to show you their learning.
This product includes:
• All game pieces in both color and black and white
• Three versions: standard, ten frames, and numerals
• Optional game pieces and number lines for students to find the new number.
• Three different recording sheets to choose from.
Three versions:
-standard version – students count the set of items, write the number, then determine one more
-ten frame version – students count the items in the ten frame, write the number, then determine one more
-numeral version – students count the items and look at the numeral, then determine one more
Four strategies for determining one more:
-Students may use whiteboard markers to draw one more on laminated Game Cards
-Students may place optional Game Pieces on the Game Cards
-Students may use the optional Number Lines
-Students may count on, orally or in their heads
Three optional recording sheets included
How to play:
• Students choose a game card, count the number of items on the card, and write that number. (On the numeral version, the number has already been given.)
• Students then write the new number. Students may figure out the new number by drawing one more, placing the Game Piece on the Game Card, or using the number line.
