Buying A House Project (Percents and Real World Math)
This is a great multi-day project where students will work on many skills that are needed in 7-9th grade math. They will work with percents, buying, debt, graphing and many other skills that are helpful not just in math but in the real world. This is a great way of tying students into to the real world that they will be entering shortly.

Product Design Math Project
Let your students delve into the real world application of percents, statistics, and graphing.
They will choose one of three company focuses that need a new product. Students will create questions to survey classmates or schoolmates in order to guide their design.
They will categorize that data and create various graphs, percentage statements, and a presentation.
All of these steps are followed through the steps of design thinking.

Valentine Math: Circle Graphs
Students will create Circle Graphs (which they will later turn into hearts) and give them to their favorite teacher in the school.
Students will first fill in a decimal/fraction/percent/degree chart using the candy from a box of candy hearts. They will use this information to create a circle graph. Students will then turn the circle into a heart and write a message on the back of the heart for their favorite teacher.

This project will require students to use data found online as well as data provided in the project. Students will create a stem-an-leaf plot, bar graph, double bar graph, and back-to-back stem-and-leaf plot. Desmos Drawings Functions Project | Algebra 1 and 8th Grade Math | End of Year!
This is a wonderful multi-day project I have used for the past two years with my 8th grade math and honors Algebra 1 students! It is low-prep, takes around four 60-minute class periods, and is perfect for the end of the year after testing. Students select an image to trace in the free, online Desmos graphing calculator. Coordinate Graphing Art Project
A fun and creative way to review graphing ordered pairs on a four quadrant grid. Students will create a picture with 25 ordered pairs using striaght lines. They will also provide directions on how to recreate the picture. Then, they will swap directions with a partner and recreate each other's pictures. Directions and grading rubric are included.

Linear Equations Project
Students can practice their knowledge of linear equations and apply it to the real world by creating equations to represent how long it would take them to be able to afford certain items based on the job which they work. Students learn life lessons (like going to college will set you back 50,000) as well as that jobs where one attend college end up paying more in the long run.
Students use their knowledge to project income. Can be scaffolded up or down based on student need.

Graphing Project
It allows the students to practice collecting data, analyzing data, and then constructing a graph using the collected data. This can be used for almost all grade levels. The analysis would just need to be enhanced for higher grade levels.
This project is designed as a home project but could also be done in class or in groups. The students develop a question then collect data on their question. From the data collected, a graph is built and analyzed.

Create your own coordinate plane picture.
The create your own coordinate plane picture project is a 3 or 4 class period assignment where students take a picture or logo and then they use ordered pairs to recreate the picture. This project guides the student through the process of creating, accessing, peer assessing, and finalizing their picture. Systems of Equations
This activity applies a real life example of systems of equations. It proposes the question "Which restaurant would you eat at?". Students are given information about two different restaurants. They need to make predictions, write 2 linear equations, graph the linear equations, state the point of intersection (and explain what the intersection means), verify algebraically the point of intersection, and finally decide which restaurant they would eat at using all of the data from the activity.

Graphing Pictures Summative Project Task
I used this project as a summative project task. Students are given an image to recreate in Desmos. I had them submit via a Google Form, but I unlinked it in this doc so you can make your own. Make sure that know how to use the correct link in desmos so that they don't lose all of their work (I had a few students not listen and copy and paste directly from the search bar, which is just a blank graph). My students LOVED this project! Edit the rubric to fit your needs.
