It is low-prep, takes around four 60-minute class periods, and is perfect for the end of the year after testing. Students select an image to trace in the free, online Desmos graphing calculator. They trace their image by creating functions and limiting the domain and range. 8th grade math students stick to basic images and linear functions, while Algebra 1 students can

I used this project as a summative project task. Students are given an image to recreate in Desmos. I had them submit via a Google Form, but I unlinked it in this doc so you can make your own. Make sure that know how to use the correct link in desmos so that they don't lose all of their work (I had a few students not listen and copy and paste directly from the search bar, which is just a blank graph). My students LOVED this project! Edit the rubric to fit your needs.
