Free, quick, and easy to grade. My students improved from 47% to 63% proficient or advanced on the California State Test the year that I added 6 Algebra 1 mastery tests to my Algebra 2 curriculum (2011). I no longer teach Algebra 1 so I don’t have data for that. Give students 3 minutes to complete as many integer problems as possible. Just like traditional Mad Minutes, give repeatedly to see growth. There are five columns, one for each operation and a fifth focusing on 3 term addition. You can measure growth overall or per column to determine where further practice is required.
