Parallel Lines and Angle Relationships City Design Project

Created by
Pachy San Store
I have used this project to help students learn about parallel lines and angle relationships formed by parallel lines cut by a transversal. You can use it as an internet activity with dragging icons and lines onto the page on page #5 or a paper copy activity on page 4 and page 6. It's really fun and interactive for all students. Thank you! I added 2 examples of the paper copy of the project.

St. Patrick's Day Ireland Coding project learning about Ogham stones

Ireland is more than just the land of four leaf clovers! This is the perfect activity for older kids who are ready for something different than the normal St. Patrick's Day activities. This exercise is also a great screen-free way to introduce your students to the world of coding! Ogham Stones are large stones that people carved a secret language in on the island of Ireland. This lesson will teach your students how to create their own secret codes with the Ogham alphabet. The alphabet is simple

Design an Efficient Manufacturing Floor: An Intro to Geometry Project

Students will step into the role of engineers tasked with designing the layout of a new manufacturing facility. The layout must be efficient, safe, and functional - just like real factories that assemble electronics, cars, appliances, or packaged goods. To accomplish this, students will apply core intro to geometry concepts: Points, lines, and segmentsParallel and perpendicular linesAngle types and angle measuresPolygons (triangles, rectangles, quadrilaterals)Distance and midpointBasic construct

Have your students construct their own city using parallel lines and transversal angles. The students will decide the landmarks in their city and then construct the city based on the stipulations set. The angles used are: alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, same side interior angles, same side exterior angles, vertical angles, supplementary angles, and corresponding angles.

Geometry City Map Project: Urban Planning Performance Task (Lines, Angles, & Sha

Transform your students into Lead Urban Planners! In this Geometry City Design Project, students apply their knowledge of geometric figures to create a functional, "up-to-code" city map. This resource moves geometry from abstract textbook diagrams to the drawing board, requiring students to synthesize multiple standards in a creative, real-world context. Whether they are laying out "Parallel Parkway" or building a "Right Triangle Police Station," students must be precise, organized, and mathema

This project was used in my high school Geometry class after direct instruction of transversals, parallel lines, corresponding angles, etc. This was used as an assessment and student were encouraged to use their notes. Student work was displayed around the classroom until the end of the unit. The sticker file I have included can be printed on sticker sheets or on plain paper and then glued to their project sheets. If you do not use sticker paper then edit the instruction accordingly.

Slopes of Parallel and Perpendicular Lines: An Inquiry-Based Exploration

This is an inquiry-based learning activity used to teach students of the properties of the slopes of parallel lines and the slopes of perpendicular lines. This activity is best used before going too in-depth with the algebraic properties of parallel and perpendicular lines as it allows students to discover, on their own terms, these properties. The papers are arranged so that you may print the graphing activities on one sheet of paper and the questions on another. Have students put papers side b
