Series vs. Parallel Circuits PowerPoint Animation
This is an original PowerPoint animation that demonstrates the different between a series circuit and a parallel circuit. It shows both the standard circuit symbols, as well as pictures, complete with batteries, light bulbs, and wires. The animation shows what happens when a bulb is removed from each circuit, demonstrating that a complete loop (circuit) is necessary in order for current to flow. The slides can be modified if the user wishes to add more bulbs, etc. Thanks! Michael Guarraia

Layers of the Atmosphere Poster Project
This is a fun poster project I use to wrap up my unit on the Atmosphere. I then allow the students to take a formative assessment with their posters near their desks. So if they do a good job, basically they get a 'cheat sheet' on the test. It really motivates them to do good work and let's the more artistic students have a chance to gain a substantial number of points.

Mind Games book report project
Mind Games by Jeanne Marie Grunwell is a fantastic fictional novel written as a scientific journal from the point of view of a group of 7th grade students. It explores the scientific process and has a character every student can relate to. It's funny, emotional and most importantly scientifically sound (although the topic of their study is ESP- the author does a good job at remaining objective). How to catch a leprechaun, science experiment
My kindergartners have LOVED this project. We have been having "Landon the Leprechaun visit us at night "messing up" our classroom. This activity introduces the students to the scientific method while also promoting team work, creativity, and practices their writing. Shark Taxonomy Research
This is a great little research project for 7th grade life science students. They need to use a website to look up information about a shark of their choice, and discover the way a shark has evolved over time! They learn key things like classification, shark biology, and work on identifying differences between species. Students then complete a gallery walk to view other projects and provide feedback.
