For this activity, students will practice identifying and writing a rule for the translation shown. There are twelve problems to allow students to increase proficiency in writing the translation rules. The solutions show the rules in written descriptions, vector and mapping forms to give students choice in how they represent the rules. Students can move among one row or throughout the room in a “snake” fashion. Use a timer and set it for 10 seconds. Students start at their own desk. They work o

Groups are provided with a set of problems and a target containing answers to the problems. Each student in the group picks two problems from each section (up to 3); one section of the problems requires students to find a missing length and the other focuses on finding a missing acute angle. Students initial the problems to claim them. On the student work page, students work the problems they chose, rounding their answers to the nearest whole number. Students locate the answer on the group targ

For this activity, students will practice solving volume problems related to pyramids and cones. They are required to begin with the formula needed, show the substitution step and then calculate precisely with the correct units. It is assumed students will be using scientific calculators. How does a hot seat activity work? Students move among one row as a team. You can have them compete against the other teams if you wish to make this competitive. For this hot seat, students work only one step

Content: For this activity, students will practice using the theorems related to inscribed angles and the angles formed by tangents and chords. There are 10 problems to allow students to increase proficiency and automaticity. An answer key is included. How it works: Students can move among one row, group or throughout the room in a “snake” fashion. Movement is quick, hence the "hot seat." Variations: * Use a timer and set it for 10-20 seconds. When the timer goes off, everyone stands and shif

The Group Target Activity is designed to get kids actively engaged in the math content already learned. Students work in groups, but are held individually accountable for their own problems. Here is what you need to prepare: -->Each group will get one target. Slide the target into a page protector so groups can use a dry erase marker to initial the target as they find solutions. The target can be up on a board to encourage movement or at the groups’ desks. -->Each group will get one probl

This lesson is designed to give students an active and collaborative opportunity to review the Vector Lesson from their high school Geometry class. Vectors, in Geometry, give students an application for Right Triangle Trigonometry and a glimpse into the vectors they will learn about in higher levels of mathematics. For this activity, students work in groups to solve various problems from a problem page. Each group member chooses one problem per row, initialing the problem to "claim it." A stude
