Food Web Cards: Great for building food webs or games!

Use these cards to allow students to create food webs based on the knowledge they possess about the flow of energy and relationships between organisms. I use this for my Pre-AP students and require them to create a food web, label the % of energy passed on, what trophic level they are and classification. For regular, I give each student a card and they must organize themselves based on first, their idea of trophic levels. Next, we create a class-wide food web on the board and as a class copy i

Earth's Tilt & Seasons Handout

This handout allows students to see how the Earth's tilt affects the seasons in both hemispheres as it revolves around the Sun. It can be used as a supplemental activity for students to fill in as an exit ticket or independent work activity. I prefer to use it as the center of the lesson where students have to investigate each position and properly label the season for that position. It is a great tool to place in their science journals as a study guide to recognizing how the tilt and revolution

Speed Velocity & Acceleration Jeopardy Game (Includes graphing practice)

An engaging & super fun way to assess student knowledge of speed, velocity & acceleration and recognizing graphing scenario! Students either answer vocab and equation questions or have to identify the graphing scenario presented OR draw what graph the scenario is talking about! While working in teams, students answer science questions in a jeopardy style game. I had my students use whiteboards so each group answers and whoever gets it right gets the points or you can play in the spirit of the

Food Web: Marine & Freshwater Comparison

This activity is a great way to see the inherent differences between ecosystems and food webs that come from the same "stereotype," which in this case both ecosystems are found in water! This document contains 2 separate food web abilities: freshwater and marine. In 2 sets, there are pictures of multiple producer/ consumers, predator/ prey relationships. Allow students to first sort them into specific piles based on whether they are producers or consumers or where they would fall on the Rule o
