A great activity to allow students to work on reading topographic maps. Can be given as homework or done as a class activity but allows them to read topographic maps and decipher what they are saying in relation to elevation and topographic features

Reading Topographic Maps
A powerpoint that goes over how to read topographic maps and then at the end allows students to practice reading the topographic map and answering questions about the specific map. This can either be done with whiteboards or print them out and use them as a station rotation activity. It is a wonderful practice activity to help students understand topo maps!

Use this handout to allow students to draw the Bohr models of each element and add the protons, neutrons and electrons to it as well. Make it as challenging or as basic as you want! I use it as a handout that is put in their journal to help as extra practice identifying Bohr models and how to find the number of protons/ neutrons/electrons

HR Diagram Search Activity
Use this activity to help students better understand the relationship of temperature and brightness on the HR diagram. Students will read the HR diagram and choose the star that the questions are describing. Attached at the end of the 2 page activity is the HR diagram to be used. Allow students to collaborate with a partner and make it a classroom activity or use it to test their knowledge and make it a quiz. Either way, students will enjoy being astronomers and learning how to read the stars

Food Web Cards: Great for building food webs or games!
Use these cards to allow students to create food webs based on the knowledge they possess about the flow of energy and relationships between organisms. I use this for my Pre-AP students and require them to create a food web, label the % of energy passed on, what trophic level they are and classification.

Earth's Tilt & Seasons Handout
This handout allows students to see how the Earth's tilt affects the seasons in both hemispheres as it revolves around the Sun. It can be used as a supplemental activity for students to fill in as an exit ticket or independent work activity. Stars Relay Game (HR Diagram Practice)
Many students struggle with understanding the relationship of brightness and temperature on the HR diagram and this activity is a great collaborative activity to help solidify this often difficult concept.
