Repeated Reading Activity: Help with fluency and sight word recognition
This a great activity for helping struggling readers. I have used this activity with kids ranging from 1st grade up to 8th.
What is Repeated Reading?
-Act of reading a short text that is at the student's reading level, multiple times, over a period of several days.
-It is used to give the student repeated exposure to sight words, and helps them increase their fluency (WPM-words per minute that are correct)
Reasons for Repeated Reading:
-Boosts sight word recognition.
-Helps increase fluency.

Simple Phonics Practice of Short and Long Vowel Sounds
This Practice has been a huge success with several of my tutoring students. It is a no frills practice that involves both adult and student participation. White boards work best for me, as my students love any chance they can get to use one of my white board posters. However, you can also use plain paper for this.
You simply pick the sound or sounds you want to work on. You write a word on the board missing a letter. You say the word then have the student pick out what letter they think should
