I created this rubric to assess students on their proper use of sentences in all their work. In the particular year I created this, I was having a tough time getting students to write complete and thorough sentences in content areas outside of Language and Writing. I now have this in the students' folders at the beginning of each year, and they know that I may assess their writing with this on any assignment at any time.
This assesses four different areas: complete sentences, capitalization
I use this rubric in my classroom for a wide variety of evidence-based writing in all subject areas. It works well for paragraph and response writing. I employ ACES (Answer, Cite, Expand, Summarize) in my classroom and this rubric assesses each of the four areas. However, it can be quickly and easily modified for any acronym you may use in your classrooms and is fully editable.
This rubric, while specific enough in its language for each category, is designed to be simple enough to be used with

My students are responsible for two oral book report presentations each year. While I use this rubric to assess their report, the true shift in my classroom came from having every student assess their peers' oral presentations. The rubric has guided every student in the type of constructive criticism they should provide each other and vastly boosted their active listening during the presentations. For the presenter, it is a very clear-cut guide of what to focus on during their preparation and pr

This is a comprehensive written assessment over plants for 5th grade students. This was designed to be given after working with my research guide on plants (Plants Research/Study Guide). The research guide was written for, but does not have to be used with, Scott Foresman's 5th Grade Science (Diamond Edition).
The test is 10 multiple choice questions, 8 short answers, a diagram on flowering plants, and 2 comprehensive essays. Questions cover leaves, stems, and roots as plant organs as well a
This is a comprehensive study guide on plants that was written for Scott Foresman's 5th Grade Science (Diamond Edition). While it was definitely designed to be paired with the text, it would also serve as a great guide for researching plants with any other sources as well.
The four lessons include leaves, stems, and roots as plant organs, as well as types of sexual and asexual reproduction and growth. It is actually a great introduction into the topic of general reproduction, as the process o
This PowerPoint explores the Jamestown colony, hardships its colonists faced, and reasons for its survival. It begins with its founding by the Virginia Company and continues until Jamestown was made a royal colony.
This is great for an introduction or a review of Jamestown material leading to the larger topic of English Colonies.
This is a comprehensive study guide on Matter and Its Properties that was written for Scott Foresman's 5th Grade Science (Diamond Edition). While it was definitely designed to be paired with the text, it would also serve as a great guide for researching matter with any other sources as well.
The four lessons include properties of matter, how atoms combine, how phase changes occur, and mixtures/solution. It is actually a great introduction to our physical world. Each lesson contains vocabulary,
This problem solving plan is something that I use with multiple math assignments per unit. It can be used on its own with a singular word problem, or given as a supplement for any assignment that has word problems. When I give this to students as a supplement to their homework, I pick one word problem for them to use this on. The rubric has specifics on each of the four following categories: Understanding, Plan, Solve, Check. Each category has specific language in the rubric that expects element
This is a quick assessment that you can use as homework, a quiz, an informal check, or a review of students true understanding of the types of quadrilaterals and their properties. There are 8 different geometric figures. Not only does it require them to name each quadrilateral with all types that apply, but also requires a description of why each category fits the figure given. Thanks for checking out my resource:-)

I made these typing posters for my fifth grade class to use in conjunction with typing.com. I expect them to have a minimum words per minute with 95% accuracy before continuing to the next part of each lesson. Here are 7 posters, each one increasing by 5 words per minute, starting with 15 and ending with 50.
If you need this modified in any way, words per minute, accuracy, or for your specific typing program, I would be happy to do that and would have it done for you very quickly. I hope you

I spent 17 years teaching 5th grade with a focus on ELA, mathematics, and technology. This is my first year as our district's grades 4 and 5 math interventionist and coach. I'm very excited for the new adventure!
Teaching style
I value project-based work and independent thinking. The interest and excitement of inquiry-based discoveries by students' own hands is something that cannot be replicated through simple presentation of material.
Awards & shining teacher moments
None better than the pleasure of working with nearly 1000 young minds.
