Students will create a poster using sports statistics. Depending on the time of year, you may want to use football scores, basketball scores, data from the Olympics, etc. Students will use the internet (or you can print out statistics for them) to find sports data. The students really buy into this project because it is about something they are interested in - their favorite sports team! I have taught middle school and high school for 15 years. (from basic level to Algebra Honors)

Teaching style

My main goal each day is to focus on the students: to help them learn, understand and use the knowledge they have gained. I try to incorporate into the classroom a hands on approach to math. If the students can see and touch what they are trying to accomplish, the retention is so much higher. I try to challenge the students, and to create an environment in which they want to learn.
