-Use the Say It! Place Mat to have student:
1. Listen to a partner read aloud statement written on a Task Card (see sample of task card) in order to place each digit in the correct place value (see Say It! Place Mat).
2. Practice writing the number in word form.
3. Say the number aloud while partner listens carefully to determine if the student wrote the number on the Task Card correctly.

This is a mat and cards that can be used at a math center to practice with a partner estimating to the nearest 100 and 10. My kids love it!!!!
-print the cards on cardstock and cut the cards
-place game sheet inside a plastic protective sheet or print on cardstock
-print answer key so students can self-correct
-use EXPO markers to write answers on recording sheet

Hands on and kinesthetic approach to teaching. I am one to break away from a textbook to teach hands on activities to introduce and reinforce new concepts to my "ducklings." I am definitely a constructivist- always scaffolding information.
