The Veldt is a short story that questions technology and parenting. Included are 16 comprehension questions that were created to go along with the story. Also included is the Answer Key to those same questions. The story itself is NOT included in this. This activity can be used as an assessment at the conclusion of reading this story or it could be used for comprehension and can be completed while reading this story.

This document is a list of comprehension questions varying from 8-20 questions of all the chapters from the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy. Included with this is the answer key. There are over 200 questions AND answers included in this document.

This activity DOES NOT include the text of "The Monkey's Paw." This activity was made to be done after completion of the short story "The Monkey's Paw." This is a worksheet that can be used in a Consumer Math class. This is an assignment used in a History class. It asks students to do research into their heritage, and create a powerpoint presentation answering certain questions asked on the instructions. This DOES NOT ask students to look specifically into their personal heritage. For example, I am half Italian, so if I were asked to complete this assignment I would do a research project on Italian Immigration to America.

This activity can be used when talking about the George Washington and the first Cabinet. This asks students to find the three pieces of information for each member of the Cabinet. These pieces of information are: the name of each position, a description of each position, and the name of the person who was in Washington's Cabinet.

This assignment includes two recipes for desserts. The original recipe is listed on the worksheet, and the assignment is that the students need to make more than they originally thought. They must go through and, using their skills of adding and multiplying fractions, create new larger recipes. There are two columns on this assignment for each recipe. One column is for the recipe to be doubled and the other column is for the recipe to be made 4 times bigger.

This activity can be used for any Character analysis work. This specific example is about creating a Vertical Name Poem for the two main characters in "The Gift of the Magi," Della and James. This Math activity will not only reinforce the process of Mean, Median, Mode and Range, but it will also get your students out of their seats and talking to their classmates. Pass out one worksheet per student and have them interview their classmates until their entire worksheet is filled out, at that point they can return to their seat and complete the worksheet by using their interview answers as their data sets.
